This year marks the fourth annual Western Sydney Women Awards. A uniquely accessible awards program, it represents women dedicated to what they do in business, as role models, and as pillars of their communities in Western Sydney.

Yesterday mentees from our Ladies Who Lead program and Western Sydney Executive Women in STEM program had the privilege of visiting the Western Sydney Airport Experience Centre. The afternoon started with a tour of the perimeter of the site where we learnt about the work involved to bring together all the different facets of the airport.

Our Women's Job Summit series kicked off at PHIVE in Parramatta with women networking with representatives from Endeavour Energy, Bingo Industries, City of Parramatta, Lendlease, Multicultural Care and Ferrycarrig.

Celebrating 12 months of growth, dedication and relationship building for women in STEM. Last week, mentees, mentors and guests celebrated the completion of our Western Sydney Executive Women in STEM program at Multiplex Sydney.

With only 12 percent of women making up its workforce, it’s no secret that the construction industry is a boy’s club. The real story is that despite their best efforts, neither government nor industry can shift the stubbornly entrenched gender ratio.

The federal budget is off to a good start when it comes to access to training/skills for girls and women however they need to be practical in the rollout or they'll fail to engage and retain girls/women in trades. Our Founding Director, Amanda Rose, shared her ideas and solutions with News Ltd based on a decade of experience working with girls and women in this space.

We had a great night on Thursday at our Finalist Cocktail Networking Event held at Panthers Penrith.

Year 8 and 9 students from Cumberland High School, as part of our Future is Bright program, attended a Sydney Water experience day as part of the Women NSW Investing in Women initiative.

Proving the future of Penrith is female, five outstanding women of the Nepean region are doing their postcode proud, being selected as finalists in the Western Sydney Women Awards across categories spanning business, volunteering and education.

Graduates of The Future is Bright in Aviation spent a day at the Powerhouse Museum seeing drones in action, asking questions and exploring the Aviation and Aerospace Exhibit, which included an up-close look at the historic Catalina aircraft.

Recently our Grow Your Future program (as part of the Women's Development and Leadership initiative by Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet) had their “Returning To Work Styling” session at the amazing new Parramatta PHIVE building.

Western Sydney Women are holding an informal networking lunch to facilitate direct introductions for women looking for work to six key employers of Western Sydney who are enthusiastic about increasing women in the workforce.

Western Sydney Women are conducting research on what the women of Western Sydney want. Our goal is to capture the priorities and concerns of all women from the Inner West, Greater West, North West and South West of Sydney.

Earlier this week high school girls from Western Sydney, as part of The Future is Bright in Aviation program, were given the opportunity to fly a 737 flight simulator, plan a cross-country navigation exercise, conduct an extensive tour of SFC's aircraft fleet, and even hear from Nina, a C130J Hercules Captain in the RAAF.

Introducing Rose and Houda, who are in their final year of their Bachelor of Social Science at Macquarie University. They are interning with Western Sydney Women to gain experience in conducting research.

As part of National Science Week, girls from Cumberland High School and Macquarie Fields High School attended the graduation ceremony for The Future is Bright in STEM.

The Future is Bright is a series of programs for high school girls that creates pathways for girls in STEM, Aviation and Trades.

As part of National Science Week our work has been featured on the Office for Women's list of 10 organisations addressing employment barriers and challenging gender stereotypes in STEM.

Western Sydney Executive Women in STEM held a roundtable breakfast this week as part of our 12 month mentorship program funded by the Federal Government. As this week is National Science Week, this occasion is particularly significant to us as we seek to provide mentoring and networking opportunities for women in STEM.
