That’s a wrap - Careers Connect Bootcamps

This week we ran two Careers Connect Bootcamps in the Hawkesbury region.

With funding from Workforce Australia Local Jobs and in partnership with AMES Australia, these bootcamps have launched a platform for women seeking to advance their job seeking journeys.

Day One: Resume & Confidence Building

On the first day of the Careers Connect Bootcamps, we had an amazing turnout of 40 women looking to step up their job-hunting game.

Michelle Katz shared her expertise in crafting effective resumes, preparing for interviews, and conducting successful job searches. Her guidance equipped the attendees with the necessary tools to navigate the competitive job market with confidence.

Antoinette Stonham focused on styling for interviews and creating self-confidence, emphasising the importance of projecting a professional image. One of the main takeaways from her talk was how if you feel confident with yourself others will notice.

We extend our gratitude to Michelle, Antoinette, Marwa Abouzeid and Sandy Maldon from Katz Recruitment for their contributions. They left the attendees feeling inspired and motivated to pursue their career goals.

Day Two: Professional Profile Development

On the second day of the Careers Connect Bootcamps, 35 women joined us.

Tiz Porreca, an expert in LinkedIn and personal branding, delivered an informative talk on the significance of creating a compelling online presence. Participants had the opportunity to explore the potential of LinkedIn and learn effective strategies for networking and connecting with professionals in their respective industries.

Additionally, the bootcamp featured a panel of employers who generously shared their insights on pathways to employment. Jamie Petschy from Workforce Australia Local Jobs, Gill Bedford from AMES, Michael Harlow from Training Services NSW, Alannah Norman from Wendy's Home Care, Sarah MacDougal from NBN, and Sally Rewell from Sydney Water. Our panelists provided valuable advice on what employers seek and emphasised the importance of perseverance in the job search process.

The Careers Connect Bootcamps have served as an invaluable platform for career development in the Hawkesbury region and we look forward to continuing to support women searching for work in Western Sydney.
