Calls for mature-age workers to fill job shortages

Western Sydney Women Founder Amanda Rose says there is an “entire cohort of women” who want to work and could ease the labour shortage.

“We have an entire cohort of women 45 plus that might need some up-skilling or encouragement but they’re willing and able so let’s bring them in and give them a shot,” she told Sky News Australia.

A significant shortage in skilled labour across Australia continues to negatively impact production, services and supply chains.

“A lot of places have a nine to five mentality, when really if they had a 10 to two mentality or a job share, they would have a lot more people applying for the job,” Ms Rose said.

The Western Sydney Women organisation helps women re-enter the workforce, build confidence and assists with financial independence.
