Making the voice of Western Sydney Women heard.

What do the women of Western Sydney want?

In the lead-up to the state election in March 2023, Western Sydney Women conducted research, surveying 1,000 women from the Inner West, Greater West, North West and South West of Sydney.

In a resounding wake-up call to the incumbent government, almost 70% of women surveyed said their concerns were not being heard by the state government at the time.

The survey revealed that Western Sydney’s women were fixated on jobs and the economy as cost-of-living pressures affect their ability to pay for household basics like fuel, groceries, and utilities.

Western Sydney women partners with Western Sydney University

In 2017, Associate Professor Alphia Possamai-Inesedy of Western Sydney University was funded by Western Sydney Women and NSW Government Premiers Office to conduct two waves of research on service utilisation in GWS. The study seeks to understand incentives and deterrents to accessing support services for women in GWS.

2019 Western Sydney Women Survey

Results from our survey conducted in 2019 showed that 28.8% of the jobs in the Sydney Metropolitan Area are in GWS although our women are being paid less than their Metro counterparts with 65% of Western Sydney Women earning less than the state average salary for a full-time woman.
